Using a design workshop, the baristas and staff pulled on their expertise and created a working concept for a digital menu board. Graphic and brand designers optimized this design The staff created a process to edit and change the menu board without using any subscription models.
This innovative step not only optimized operational costs but also enriched the customer experience through dynamic, engaging menu presentations, contributing to a more effective customer experience. It also gave the staff ownership over improving the coffee shop.
Optimizing Effectiveness: Barista Workflow Redesign
Recognizing the core role of baristas, we reevaluated and optimized their workflow, incorporating their insights into the design of their workspace. We effectively used the baristas to create their own workflow blueprints, and that allowed them to optimize their workspace without making any physical modifications to the bar. The owner was able to look at those modifications to make a more informed plan for future modifications to the coffee shop bar.
This collaborative redesign effort led to enhanced efficiency and job satisfaction, directly impacting service quality and operational fluency.
Customer-Driven Design: Merchandise Shelving Redesign
The redesign of the merchandise shelving was a model of customer-driven innovation. Engaging both staff and customers in the design process led to the development of displays that not only attracted attention but also effectively showcased products.
